What’s the difference between a t-shirt quilt and a t-shirt blanket?

Quilts

Quilts offer the most size and customization options. Quilts are larger than blankets and are commercially quilted using 100% polyester batting. Quilts are made with three layers.

Quilts are larger, and have many more customization options such as more colors and the option to add sashing to the quilt at no extra charge. You can use different types of shirts or fabric to make a quilt.

Blankets

Blankets are two layers and hand tied for increased strength and durability. Blankets are made with 100% anti-pill polyester fleece. Both quilts and blankets have a separate outer binding to ensure a high quality construction.

Blankets are smaller, can only be made with t-shirts or sweatshirts, and have fewer size and color options.

1. Place your order

Place your order either here, filling out an order form here and mailing it to us with payment, or by visiting our office in Columbus, Ohio.

2. Prepare your shirts

You should always wash your shirts before sending them. After your order is placed, you'll receive an email confirmation with a set of labels to attach to your shirts, indicating the order you'd like them to appear on the quilt. 3. Mail them to us

Send us your shirts using the shipping service of your choice (FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc.) and make sure to get your tracking number. That's it! We'll take it from here, and be in constant contact with you every step of the process to let you know how your quilt is coming along.

 

How much do t-shirt quilts and blankets cost?

 

Do I need to cut my shirts before sending them?

Nope! Let us do all the work. All we ask is that the shirts be washed before sending.

 
 

Can I send other clothing items besides t-shirts?

Sure! T-shirts are our most common item but we can also use sweatshirts, hoodies, polo shirts, jerseys, etc. If in doubt, don't hesitate to contact us. We're more than happy to advise on a case-by-case basis.

How long does it take to receive my quilt or blanket?

Our quilts and blankets are handmade with the highest attention to quality and detail. Typical turnaround time for quilts is 4-6 weeks and blankets is 3-4 weeks, starting on the day we receive your t-shirts. Due to seasonal demands, this time can vary. If you need your order for a special date, please contact us in advance and we'll make it happen!

What special features are available for Quilts?

You can make your t-shirt quilt unique by customizing it with any of the following special features. Note: 3 special features are included in every order at no additional charge. If you have more than 3 special features there will be an additional charge and you will be contacted to confirm. These extra charges will be calculated on your final invoice.

Specialty Items

Include baby clothes, overcoats, costumes, dress shirts, shorts, uniforms, skirts, and dresses into one square. Cost: $10

Patches, Hats, Ties

Include patches, hats, or neck ties into one square. Cost: $5

 
 

What are my color options?

We have many core color options for your quilt, which can be seen below. We also have limited edition colors available from time to time as well, so continue to check back! If you would like to request a sample packet to feel the fabrics before you order, you can do so here.

Can I select the order my shirts will appear in on the quilt?

Yes you can! With every order we include a set of labels you can use to number your shirts in the order you would like them to appear. If you have no preference, feel free to leave them unlabeled.

What is the "I Love You" feature?

On every quilt and blanket, we give the option of having the universal sign for "I Love You" embroidered into one of your shirts. This is completely free to you and a great way to add special meaning to your quilt and show support for the deaf community.

 

What are your embroidery features?

Note: Quilts Only.

One free embroidery message is included in the price of your Keepsake T-Shirt Quilt With or Without Sashing. You can use up to 3 lines with 35 characters in each line including spaces. We offer 4 location to showcase your message, Lower Right Hand Corner, Top Center, Bottom Center, or on one of your T-Shirt Squares. Wether you choose Block or Script lettering we offer the best color choices to enhance your treasured keepsake. You can also add the sign language symbol for “I Love You” at no extra charge. Additional messages and locations can be added to your quilt with the additional cost of $30 per location. The same maximum 35 characters per line applies.

 

Can I wash my quilt or blanket?

Of course! All of our products can be machine-washed and dried on a gentle cycle. A gentle soap is preferred.

 
 

My t-shirts have graphics on both sides.
What options do I have?

Some t-shirts can have graphics on both sides. Our labeling kit will aid you in labeling your t-shirt. Choose from using either the front or the back of the t-shirt.

If possible both the front and the back can be combined together into one 15" square. We call this a SPECIAL FEATURE. Depending on the complicity or the number of special features being requested an additional charge of $10 per square may be added to your invoice once your order has been processed.

How much is shipping?

Customers are responsible for shipping costs to get their garments to the Keepsake office. You can find the address and a mailing label here.

You will be charged return shipping as part of your order unless you select local pickup (which is FREE!). For return shipping, we have 2 zones:

  • Zone 1 is $25 flat-rate shipping per item.

  • Zone 2 is $30 flat-rate shipping per item.
