As a nonprofit organization, we’re always looking for ways to give back to our community. We started Deaf Initiatives over 20 years ago in 1998 with the goal of creating employment opportunities for the Deaf in a communication barrier-free environment. We started as an organization
We exist solely for the people on our team.
We also make quilts that exceed the customer’s expectations – every time. We’ve spent the last 20 years as a non-profit social purpose organization dedicated to creating employment opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing individuals in a communication barrier-free work space.
Every new order takes our mission even further.
When we started in 1998, we had just one production assistant, one seamstress and one sewing machine. Since then we’ve grown into an incredible operation that has employed over 75 people and created over 20,000 custom quilts. True to our mission, nearly every one of our employees are deaf and count on our organization to create a work environment where they can succeed. We started as an organization to provide meaningful employment in a community that experiences high rates of unemployment. It is a source of great satisfaction that we are able to serve a dual role of creating opportunities while creating an incredibly high quality product.
